The application window for the Civil Service Care Leaver Internship Scheme opened on Friday 27 August and will close at 23:55 hours on Friday 24 September. The scheme provides ring-fenced 12-month paid internships across the Civil Service for care leavers aged 18-30 as of 31 December 2021. No qualifications are required for these roles. This year the internships will be hosted by 25 Government Departments and agencies, in locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The internships are being offered at Administrative Officer (typical salary £18,000 per annum) or Executive Officer (typical salary £22,000 per annum). London salaries may be higher.  

  The vacancies advertised are for: 

  •   Administrative Officers (AOs) provide administrative support whilst working within a team structure, and do not have line management responsibilities.  
  • Executive Officers (EOs) are typically involved in problem solving, businessplanning and policy making within Government, usually working within a supportive team structure, under the direction of relevant team leaders. EOs can also hold individual responsibility for pieces of work within a programme or project.
