Back in June NNECL gave evidence to the Education Select Committee on care leavers and further education. On Tuesday 23 September the committee published its Further Education and Skills report, which shines a much-needed spotlight on the barriers facing care-experienced young people in accessing, progressing through, and completing further education.
NNECL welcomes the report which recognises the “black hole of further education” for care leavers and the call for a revised National Care Offer, improved data collection on post-16 outcomes, and targeted transition support for students with care experience.
