From 7-9 February, the Edge Hill University Widening Access team is hosting a week of free, hybrid events designed to raise awareness and show support for care leavers, care experienced and estranged students.

At the heart of the week is a touring photographic exhibition, produced by the Unite Foundation in collaboration with care leavers, care experienced and estranged students. Through photography, it explores the experiences of these groups and, in particular, their journey through higher education.

Below are further details about the exhibition and surrounding events for the week. You are warmly invited to attend.

Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9: This is Home Photographic Exhibition – 10am-4pm – Creative Edge

This exhibition is open to all. Visitors are welcome to drop-in and attend any time during the opening hours. Student guides will be present to offer further information about the exhibition and contribute to discussions on the topic of care experience and estrangement. There will be tea and coffee served during lunchtimes and a quiet space available for those who may wish to use it during the exhibition. No booking is required.

If you miss the sign up window, you are still welcome to attend on the day.

Outside of these events, we are also engaging with the local community through inviting care leavers, care experienced and estranged pupils from local schools to visit the exhibition and participate in a day of workshops at Edge Hill on Wednesday 8 February. Additionally, a ‘supporting supporters’ webinar is being run for Lancashire council, comprised of social workers, virtual school staff and foster parents on Friday 10 February.

We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition and events in support of our care leaver, care experienced and estranged community.
