University of York: Webinars for practitioners who work with young people with care experience.

The University of York’s Access and Outreach Team is running a series of 4 webinars throughout October 2024, aimed at professionals and supporters of care experienced and estranged young people. This includes social workers, personal advisors, school staff, foster carers and anyone else who might find it useful.

All of the webinars will take place from 10.30am-12pm on Zoom and are free to attend. Those who are interested are welcome to join us for as many of the sessions as they like. We will be covering the following topics:

Session 1 (Tuesday 1st October):

An overview of higher education and how to support someone in choosing a course, university, and location.

Session 2 (Tuesday 8th October):

The support available for care experienced and estranged students across the whole student journey.

Session 3 (Tuesday 15th October):

Supporting someone to make a university application, including navigating the UCAS system and declaring care experience.

Session 4 (Tuesday 22nd October):

Supporting young people with their money management, including the Student Finance system, financial support, and budgeting.
