Charmaine Valente, Funding Information Account Manager from the Student Loans Company has, since their inception, been working together with The National Network for the Education of Care Leavers (NNECL) who were a volunteer network who opened their doors in June 2013. NNECL are committed to supporting the progression of care experienced students to build their education by going on to further and higher education.
The NNECL Quality Mark is pivotal for educational establishments being able to certify consistency of information and guidance and ensuring students in general make informed choices about their future. Charmaine is delighted to have been consulted and contribute to the NNECL quality mark and resources supporting information, guidance and good practices.
Going onto higher education comes at a cost and this is where NNECL, by working with the Student Loans Company are providing guidance and supporting organisations. NNECL does this by helping establishments maintain up to date information, staff training and the dissemination of guidance on student finance. Students receive a clear understanding of the process for applying for student finance, guaranteeing they will be in receipt of their funding in time to start their courses.
NNECL staff appreciate the consequences for the student and for higher education institutions if funding is not available to the student at the start of term. By collaborating with the Student Loans Company, NNECL are transforming the landscape opportunities by championing the continuous improvement of local practices, which feeds into all their national collaborations.
Have a great care leaver week!
