Media toolkit for journalists and care experienced people
This journalism toolkit offers guidance for media professionals and care experienced people working together.
This journalism toolkit, created by Churchill Fellow and Big Issue journalist Sophia Alexandra Hall, offers guidance for media professionals and care experienced people working together.
Informed by over 50 meetings across New York, Boston and Los Angeles with journalists, academics, psychiatrists, social workers, doctors, charity professionals, and care experienced people. It aims to promote ethical storytelling that protects both parties.
In the UK, 'care experienced' refers to anyone who has spent time in the children’s social care system. As media interest in this community grows, the toolkit addresses the need for sensitive, responsible reporting that reflects the diversity and dignity of care experienced lives.
