Graduate outcomes for care-experienced students: What we know, and what is left to uncover. Dr Zoe Baker

Although there has been a growing body of research on care-experienced (CE) students’ access to, and engagement with, higher education (HE) initiated by Jackson et al.’s (2005) ground-breaking ‘By Degrees’ project, we know very little about their graduate transitions and destinations. Initial quantitative insights into the graduate destinations of CE students have very recently emerged (Baker et al., forthcoming; Harrison, Baker and Stevenson, 2020). These provide an interesting picture of where CE graduates go after completing their HE. This talk will provide a brief overview of the headline findings from this work, before moving on to consider a) what is still left to uncover in this area, and b) future research plans for addressing these remaining knowledge gaps.
