In December 2025 we published our paper Housing Futures; A NNECL perspective on what works for accommodation. Since then, we have been speaking with our National Strategy Group and our Trustees to agree which strands of the learning we should take forward first.

During this members‑only webinar, we  shared our focus on accommodation for the year ahead and our approach to improving data collection on care leavers living in private accommodation. We were delighted to be joined by Ed Naylor from our Quality Mark awarded Liverpool John Moores University. Ed shared how LJMU works to ensure equitable accommodation choices for all incoming students, including those who are estranged or have care experience. The session also explored recent developments such as the Renters’ Rights Act and outlined the potential implications for this area of work.

Guest Speaker

Ed Naylor Head of Accommodation and Student Living LJMU

Ed  is responsible for managing relationships with LJMU’s private accommodation partners. He has worked at LJMU for three decades and was instrumental in setting up the current partnership model in 2004. LJMU makes an absolute guarantee of accommodation to all new students despite not owning a single bed-space.
