Michelle is a care-leaver, doctor and prominent advocate for social mobility.

Despite navigating the challenges of being a looked-after child, she went on to read medicine. She has also completed a degree in Infectious Diseases & Immunobiology BSc achieving First-Class honours.

Using her experience of overcoming hardships whilst being in care, Michelle aims to improve the health, educational and social outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers through influencing governmental policies and practices.

Michelle’s passion for social mobility has led her to work with organisations such as Sutton Trust, KCL Widening Participation and Drive Forward Foundation to help bring awareness of the challenges of being in care and to improve their outcomes.

In October 2020, Michelle founded the West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Care Leaver Advisory Board, which works in partnership with WSCC leaving care service to shape the policies and practices that will be implemented for care-leavers.
